Belle Beauty Rocks the stage!

I absolutely loved helping to select dresses for the Miss Earth Northern Ireland 2017 competition in June. Belle customer, Arlene, came fourth place overall in her very first competition of this nature and looked stunning in both dresses from Belle Dress Hire.
For the cocktail round we decided to go for a shorter length, gold sequin, strapless style and it fitted Arlene like a glove! The bodice of this dress is boned at the bust and gives a fabulous shape to the wearer, nipping in tight at the waist. The fabric itself is quite stiff and so sits really well, no wrinkles or folds to worry about when you wear this dress.

Then for the remaining rounds of the competition, Arlene chose an AMAZING full length gown with ruffled full skirt, strapless, boned bodice in a green and navy animal print pattern. I know that sounds really bizarre but the pattern is very subtle and considering the pageant was called Miss Earth, we thought this dress was the perfect choice and again it fitted Arlene extremely well after a few nips and tucks.

Prom dresses are BACK

For the last few years, there has been more of an avid interest in dramatic, skin tight, fitted styles with thigh high splits or deep cleavage V-necks when it comes to formal wear.  However, the tide is changing!

There has been a resurgence of pretty, “prom” style dresses on the red carpet this year at The Golden Globes, Oscars and in Cannes.  Both the young and more mature lady are turning to a soft, floaty, chiffon fabric without the harshness of structure or embellishments which can be super flattering on the figure.  Accessories, hairstyle and make up are vitally important when completing this look to ensure you keep everything fresh, understated and fashion forward.

Kaley Cuoco at the 2016 Golden Globes and Miranda Kerr in Cannes, wore their flowing, chiffon gowns immaculately whilst Heidi Klum’s lilac dress was a disaster.

I have some beautiful, free flowing dresses available for hire at your next event.  Dare to be different and embrace your femininity by choosing one of these super pretty styles at Belle Dress Hire ….

Sorry for being quiet ….

… as I may have been silent on the blog side of things but have been a busy bee with customers at Belle the last few weeks.

Also, I’m just being honest here, but I have not been inspired by any celebrity fashion choices out there either.  Kim K just keeps spilling out of outfits and even the Hollywood red carpet has been really lack lustre.  What is going on??  Plus I’m really missing my Fashion Police updates (RIP Joan).

Even Cheryl and Mel have been very disappointing on X Factor.  Nothing has stood out to me or blown me away at all.  They’ve looked “well” and “nice” but not amazing.  Come On Ladies, get it together!  You both have TEAMS of people getting you ready each week, at least make it look like you made a proper effort!

On a happier note, I have some stunning new dresses available for hire at Belle Dress Hire, just take a sneak peek at these beauties ….

Above is a gorgeous black, vintage style dress with mesh and lace detailing.  Simple but classic and elegant.  Perfect if paired with pillarbox red or Berry nails and lipstick.

Next we have a beautiful, rich, navy blue dress with a complete see through mesh back with jewelled beading.   This is a heavy jersey fabric so won’t wrinkle and hangs extremely well.

A leopard never changes its spots!

When Arlene Trainor came to me for an appointment to find a dress for St Mary’s Christian Brothers Grammar School formal just 24 hours in advance, I thought it was going to be extremely tough.

However, as soon as Arlene arrived, I knew the appointment was going to be alot of fun!  Arlene is lovely and tall, with a fantastic figure as well as gorgeous long hair so I knew the dresses would all be beautiful on her, the problem was choosing “thee dress.”

After trying several styles, all of which looked good, I pulled out probably the most statement dress that I have at Belle Dress Hire for Arlene to try on which is a full length, leopard print gown with red piping, a crumb catcher bustline with diamante detail and a slit up the front.  This is not a dress for the faint hearted!!!  I just knew the fit and structure of the dress would really flatter her figure and Arlene is lucky to also be young enough to carry a dress like this off.  Once we put the dress on, all the others paled in comparison.  We had found THEE DRESS.  After a quick steam and a press, the dress was ready to be bagged and off Arlene went there and then with the dress for the following night.  Now that’s a quick turnaround on an evening dress!

Arlene has styled the dress absolutely perfectly!  We discussed at the appointment how she would be best to keep accessories to an absolute minimum and to go with something fun in terms of a hair style which she has achieved to dramatic effect!  I believe Arlene made a dramatic entrance and caused major dress envy at the formal and I think you’ll all agree why when you see this photo.  Whether you personally like the dress or not, you cannot deny that it fits and suits Arlene so well and I think she looks beautiful …
