Dress just like Margot Robbie!!!

Margot Robbie was in a fabulous, gold, shimmering, low neckline, Tom Ford dress at the 2016 Oscars

She almost looked like an Oscar trophy with the gold, metallic fabric and long statuesque figure in this fabulous gown.  This style totally embraces curves which is what I especially love about it.  You need a pair of hips and a bum for this ladies!  Hooray, I hear you shout!

Yes you can look like Margot Robbie at your next event, just look at this gown available at Belle Dress Hire …  This style is available in a size 10/12.  Please contact me via the website www.belledresshire.co.uk for an appointment to try this on!!

Prom dresses are BACK

For the last few years, there has been more of an avid interest in dramatic, skin tight, fitted styles with thigh high splits or deep cleavage V-necks when it comes to formal wear.  However, the tide is changing!

There has been a resurgence of pretty, “prom” style dresses on the red carpet this year at The Golden Globes, Oscars and in Cannes.  Both the young and more mature lady are turning to a soft, floaty, chiffon fabric without the harshness of structure or embellishments which can be super flattering on the figure.  Accessories, hairstyle and make up are vitally important when completing this look to ensure you keep everything fresh, understated and fashion forward.

Kaley Cuoco at the 2016 Golden Globes and Miranda Kerr in Cannes, wore their flowing, chiffon gowns immaculately whilst Heidi Klum’s lilac dress was a disaster.

I have some beautiful, free flowing dresses available for hire at your next event.  Dare to be different and embrace your femininity by choosing one of these super pretty styles at Belle Dress Hire ….

Keep it SIMPLE!!

I’m so so very sorry guys it’s been ages since I last posted, I’ve been caught up in the daily madness of my little girl who turns one tomorrow! She’s not a baby any more sadly and so I find myself with more “me” time, hence plenty of regular blog posts will be coming your way!

I’ve been keeping a close eye on the red carpet events of 2016 so far – Met Gala, Grammys, MMVAS, Tony Awards etc and have to say I feel an overall sense of disappointment in many of the celebrity fashion choices this year. But hey let’s focus on the good ones for this post and I’m going to talk about red carpet evening wear specifically as school formal season is approaching from September onwards ……

Often, when it comes to style, think the simpler the better! I give you Krysta Rodriguez and Bella Hadid at this year’s Tony Awards who display chic sophistication perfectly in their choice of strapless, clean line dresses in black and white. Don’t ever underestimate the power of this combination, especially if you team with a strong hair style and lip colour.

Belle Dress Hire has some stunningly, fabulous black and white dresses available for hire – see examples below.  So forget the dull pastels and predictable red gowns at your next event and strike a pose in some old school monochrome glamour instead!

Sisters are Doing it for Themselves!

Not only is it super fun to dress someone for a special occasion but it’s double the fun when you get to help sisters chose dresses!

Mandy (right) and Laura (left) look absolutely stunning in these full length gowns …..

It was a little difficult initially to select a few dresses for them each to try on at the appointment which they didn’t both love!  These sisters not only look very alike but are very close in size/shape and have the same taste just to make it extra difficult lol

Anyway, I think we found absolute winners in the electric blue and silver sequin style with cut out and side split as well as the striking black jersey dress with heavily beaded bust and mesh side cut out.

Both girls look elegant and stylish and I’m looking forward to hearing all the gossip from the night when they return the gowns this evening!

Dresses are available for hire in sizes 6/8 from Belle Dress Hire at a cost of £80 plus an additional £40 security deposit which is given back when the dress is returned undamaged.  Please see the website www.belledresshire.co.uk for more information.

New dress similar to Suki Waterhouse now available!

Suki Waterhouse wore a soft blue, vintage inspired, aquamarine, lace gown by Burberry to the London Palladium recently.  It is so lovely and refreshing to see a young girl looking sexy yet covered up in a long dress!

A new, full length, chiffon gown has arrived into Belle Dress Hire which I think is very similar to this Burberry style but certainly doesn’t come with the designer price tag and is available for hire in a size 6/8 in a pinky lilac shade!  Check it out …..

You can really rock Suki’s style by hiring this dress from Belle and “roughing it up” slightly by simulating the Bridget Bardot eyeliner and loose tousled “out of bed” hair which Suki does so well.  This combination gives a funkier edge and takes some of the “etherealness” out of the look.

Or you can mimic Ruth, seen here at an Awards ceremony in Dublin wearing one of Belle’s “Kate Middleton” style dresses in a gorgeous, rich burgundy wine colour.  The mesh sleeves keep the tops of arms covered and shimmer with delicate beading whilst the waist is highlighted at its best with a belt of beadwork.  Ruth has kept the look young and fresh with her choice of hair style and expertly applied make up plus she hasn’t overdone the spray tan!  So important ladies to NOT go over the top with tan, honestly it looks ridiculous especially at this time of year.  Think more Suki than Snooki!!!!!!

AMA disasters!

OMG!  It just makes me so CROSS when I see celebrities dressed this badly!  They don’t have to pay for their dresses, all the make up, tan and hair is done by their stylists which takes hours upon hours.  Jewellery, shoes and accessories are all generally free en gratis as well ……….. AND THEY STILL GET IT DISASTROUSLY WRONG.

I saw loads of pics from the AMA’s red carpet in Los Angeles on Sunday and am genuinely shocked by the car crash fashion choices made.  I saw just three styles that I quite liked.  And I mean quite liked, they didn’t blow me away by any means but certainly in comparison to the rest of the dog’s dinner outfits beside them, they stood out for the right reasons.

Selena Gomez, kept it simple and classy and fuss free.  Loved her backless, black dress with sleeves which is perfect for this time of year (remember to think how cold it is outside right now).  Effortless, timeless and chic.  Fergie also got it right in another full length, black number with gold accessories.  Again this was age appropriate and flattering.  OK she won’t win any major style awards with this dress but it did fit her beautifully.

However, in comparison to J Lo, Heidi Klum, Zendaya, Rita Ora, Diane Agron ….. the list goes on and on of dress horrors …… you look pretty awesome.  Did they look in the mirror at ALL before leaving the house????

I have to say, my customers at Belle Dress Hire look significantly better in a rented gown with their own tan and make up applied as well as just a 30 minute hair appointment than these multi millionaires!  So disappointing.  If Joan Rivers were still here she’d rip them apart!

Sorry for being quiet ….

… as I may have been silent on the blog side of things but have been a busy bee with customers at Belle the last few weeks.

Also, I’m just being honest here, but I have not been inspired by any celebrity fashion choices out there either.  Kim K just keeps spilling out of outfits and even the Hollywood red carpet has been really lack lustre.  What is going on??  Plus I’m really missing my Fashion Police updates (RIP Joan).

Even Cheryl and Mel have been very disappointing on X Factor.  Nothing has stood out to me or blown me away at all.  They’ve looked “well” and “nice” but not amazing.  Come On Ladies, get it together!  You both have TEAMS of people getting you ready each week, at least make it look like you made a proper effort!

On a happier note, I have some stunning new dresses available for hire at Belle Dress Hire, just take a sneak peek at these beauties ….

Above is a gorgeous black, vintage style dress with mesh and lace detailing.  Simple but classic and elegant.  Perfect if paired with pillarbox red or Berry nails and lipstick.

Next we have a beautiful, rich, navy blue dress with a complete see through mesh back with jewelled beading.   This is a heavy jersey fabric so won’t wrinkle and hangs extremely well.

Just a few sample pics of new styles available but there are plenty more so book early to avoid disappointment if you have an important event coming up.

Separates are SEXY!!

I just LOVE separates as evening wear.  Give me a well tailored black tux or a cropped top and pants or skirt over a full length ball gown any day of the week.  IF it’s done right of course.  From Leslie Mann and Emma Watson to Cara Delevingne and Angelina Jolie, many starlets have shunned the typical evening dress expected at red carpet events and created unforgettable fashion moments.

I applaud this completely different take on what is considered as “typical” evening wear.  I think it’s young, I think it’s fashionable, I think it’s fun and should be done so much more!

The separate concept was shown as recently as this week at the Love, Rosie Premiere in London’s Odeon West End by Kimberley Garner (former cast member of Made In Chelsea) and actress, Laura Haddock.

Even though I love this trend, I actually don’t have a wealth of separates available at Belle Dress Hire simply because the suppliers don’t offer enough of this type of thing for me to buy in!  I do however, have this absolutely gorgeous layered, black, tulle skirt with satin bow detail and a separate fitted corset with cream lace.  This skirt also looks amazing with a fitted, brightly coloured cashmere cardigan or could be paired with a simple t-shirt if you really wanted to shake things up.

Be adventurous with evening wear, step outside the box and out of your comfort zone at your next event.  The separate outfit above is available at Belle Dress Hire for just £80 plus security deposit.

It’s simply black and white!

I have had this beautiful black and white dress at Belle for awhile now.  People have been put off by it’s brazen and bold simplicity, besides they have been much more impressed with the nearby twinkle of crystals and sequin.

So I was delighted when the young Milly dared to try on this gorgeous monochrome style for her school formal.  This dress must be worn on somebody tall so that the lighter side panels hit the waist and hips at just the right point.  Milly had a beautiful, elongated torso therefore the dress looked stunning on her.  I was delighted to hear that she and date won the coveted “Best Dressed Couple” award at the formal.

When Milly came to see me she had no make-up on and was dressed very casually with hair in a ponytail.  I knew the dress would be fabulous but even I was blown away when I saw this photo of her ……….

Girls, sometimes it pays to be brave and wear something different, something unexpected.        Remember you want to stand out at your formal, not blend in.  Take a risk and chose a dress that you love not one that you think other people will like.

Teen Choice Awards 2014

Not just for the younguns this event, the annual Teen Choice Awards has now become synonymous with goofy fun, a more relaxed laid back red carpet and on-stage jibes by the presenters both young and old.

I was surprised to see a wealth of looks at this year’s event, some of which I thought were spot on and others …. somewhat lacking.

The three most important things to consider when dressing for a special event is your age, the “type” of occasion you’re attending and the fit of your outfit.  If you only bear these three things in mind and nothing else when selecting your choice of attire you simply can’t go wrong.

There has been a real lack of red carpet/black tie events over the summer months so I haven’t been blogging so much as there literally hasn’t been anything to comment on, so let’s make up for lost time shall we?

Black, black and more black!  Black is back.  Even though we’re still in the month of August, Selena Gomez, Cher Lloyd and Kim Kardashian all decided against bright colours.  I simply LOVED Selena Gomez’s simple yet chic trouser suit and silver pointed shoes.  She is showing young ladies that you can cover up and dress elegantly when you’re young and still look stylish!  Her make up with the smoky eye, lack of accessories and slicked back hair were just perfect.

Teenie Bopper, Cher Lloyd also shone in classy black, although she kept things fun and younger with a shorter hemline and a hint of see through mesh.  Mesh fabric is so in style at the moment for evening wear, it’s a way of showing skin without being over revealing or vulgar.  It’s also great at disguising blemished or uneven skin tone as well.

At just 16, it’s hard to process just how mature Bella Thorne seems to be when making fashion choices for events.  This outfit is a little out there but I loved it on her.  The blue is perfect with her auburn colouring and the very structured silhouette and stiff fabric make the most of her small frame.  However, the mesh inset at the bust is in my opinion too low and inappropriate for her age.  Remember number one in my most important things to consider ….?

Keeping things fun was an amazing dress worn by Odeya Rush who stars alongside Taylor Swift in the upcoming flick, The Giver.  The coolest part of the dress were the pockets!  Ingenious. It keeps the style informal and downplays the fuller skirt and more dramatic corseted, lace top which all could look a tad OTT.  The fact that the hemline stops above her ankle again is a fresh take on evening/party wear.

I’m glad to see red carpet events are finally on the increase and look forward to blogging about hopefully some really interesting fashion choices.
